Market demand for additional luxury wilderness lodges in British Columbia and in particular in the Coastal First Nations region has been identified. Subsequently, a comprehensive feasibility analysis was conducted by King Pacific Lodge on behalf of the Coastal First Nations and three sites were selected as having the ideal attributes to create thematically distinct lodges that are linked by a common brand and level of quality and service.
The initial development of the first lodge, located on Homalco traditional territory, has begun.
The tourism project has two unique features. First, this project has brought together a number of First Nations in a business partnership that will allow them to compete in the global market place. Second, the business partnership incorporates a governance model that provides for significant First Nation participation in the enterprise and, at the same time, separates political and economic decision making.
