Land and Resource Forum
The Land and Resource Forum is a Government-to-Government forum with representatives of First Nations and provincial government. It makes the decisions for how the Land and Resource Protocol Agreement will be implemented across the territories. Below are the Coastal First Nations Terms of Reference for this decision-making body.

A description of the Land and Resource Forums, and the LRF Technical Committee, can be found on the ILMB website.

EBM Adaptive Management Steering Committee
Government-to-government agreements define adaptive management as a systematic approach to resource management that engages the Parties and stakeholders in structured, collaborative research and monitoring with the goal of improving land and resource management policies, objectives and practices over time. Adaptive Management is a component of EBM and includes passive and active management approaches.

See attached backgrounder for an overview of Adaptive Management that was made available to participants by Stephen Tyler at the October 2008 EBM Learning Forum.

The Adaptive Management Steering Committee is a technical committee that continues to do research, in order to inform decision-making and ongoing EBM implementation. The committee makes recommendations to the Land and Resources Forum.

Plan Implementation Management Committees (PIMC) for North Coast and Central Coast
The North Coast and Central Coast PIMCs are comprised of members who can collectively represent all the major resource value perspectives in the area including local government and First Nations. The purpose of the PIMCs is to monitor and inform on progress toward implementation of the land and resource management plan and make recommendations on plan revisions to Provincial and First Nation governments through the Land and Resource Forums (LRFs).

EBM Working Group (2006-2009)
The EBM Working Group (EBM WG) was made up of technical experts from First Nations, BC government, industry and environmental organizations. It offered advice on policy and planning to the Land and Resource Forum. The purpose of the EBM WG was to develop recommendations on EBM research priorities and on the application of research results to the implementation of EBM, oversee research related to uncertainties or knowledge gaps in EBM implementation and coordinate and manage data. Below are the Terms of Reference for this group.

Coast Information Team products
The Coast Information Team brought together the best available scientific, traditional, and local knowledge to develop independent information and analyses in support of ecosystem-based management (EBM). This information was provided to the subregional Land and Resource Management Planning (LRMP) tables and the several First Nations Land Use Planning tables to assist them in developing practical recommendations to resolve land use and natural resource management issues. The CIT produced resources including the EBM Planning Handbook and the Hydroriparian Guide, which now provide a guide to decide how logging and other activities will occur under EBM.

EBM Adaptive Management Framework
Government-to-government agreements define adaptive management as a systematic approach to resource management that engages the Parties and stakeholders in structured, collaborative research and monitoring with the goal of improving land and resource management policies, objectives and practices over time. Adaptive Management is a component of EBM and includes passive and active management approaches. The EBM working group is working to develop an adaptive management framework that will support EBM implementation.
